Sketches from my visual diary

You might have noticed in the ‘galleries‘ section of my blog that I’ve been keeping a visual diary in my sketchbook for a few weeks now. I have to admit to lapsing a bit over xmas, but I have otherwise managed to keep up with drawing in it at least once a day.

This is an ongoing exercise I have been doing in order to practice drawing from life more. My current show ‘bof!‘ at the Bowery in Leeds is a culmination of months spent drawing strange things, mainly from my imagination; and so in order to rebalance things a little I felt I needed to spend time drawing the more mundane aspects of my everyday life.

It also means that I have a record of what I’ve been doing with my family and friends, which is something I would normally use photography for.

I don’t yet know how long this visual diary will go on for, but my target at the moment is to draw in it every day that I don’t get to work on my new series of paintings.
