Myself and my old chum, artist Angela Diplock have been organising a facebook group called Sketch That for about a year now. We’re a group of artists who meet up around Leeds (and the surrounding area) to draw and paint, or photograph what we see: buildings, people, trees, whatever.
It’s so much fun, and really good practise at LOOKING at stuff and noticing things around you that you might not otherwise see. I can’t wait for the weather to get warmer though, as it’s always the cold that makes us have to stop due to numb fingers!
It’s also a good opportunity to talk about art with others, and to share ideas.
Today we were in Leeds city centre, drawing at City Square for about 90 minutes this morning. Here’s my work below:
We listened to a busker, avoided the pigeons, and got frozen. The next meeting will be at Thwaite Mills, I’m looking forward to it already.
