Three of my new paintings will be exhibited for the first time at this year’s Chapel Allerton Art Trail. They are small acrylic paintings, semi abstract, based on found Internet video footage of British ravers in the 1990’s.
The theme for the art trail this year is Folklore, and these rave paintings of mine look at the myths surrounding my own view of 90’s rave culture at the time, given that I was too young to actually witness it first hand and had to make do with pirate radio and media sensationalism.
Chapel Allerton Art Trail takes place in Chapel Allerton, (a suburb of Leeds well known for its bohemian, arty nature); from Monday 25th August to Sunday 31st August, 2014.
The Art Trail is part of the Chapel Allerton Festival, an annual event of music, art, entertainment, children’s’ activities and stalls.
I will be exhibiting at The Mustard Pot,
alongside artist Tessa Houghton.
The opening event is on Tuesday 26th August, from 6-9pm, and you will be able to walk along the trail, stopping off at various venues along the way to see artworks, meet artists, and take refreshments.
Last year I exhibited three prints at Chirpy, and I enjoyed meeting loads of art trail-ees, and chatting about my work to people.
I hope you will be able to make it this year!
