Last few magician paintings (for now) and some abstract pieces

Here’s what I’ve been working on lately. I’ve finished the series about the magicians, for the moment. There are now 12 paintings in the ‘sawing a woman in half’ series, and I may decide to make more at a later date, but for now they are finished.

I like to alternate between my types of painting, and so now I am working on some abstract mixed media pieces. I have been using acrylic on canvas, and also I’ve started painting on some post industrial waste plastic sign boards that I bought from a waste reuse company in Leeds called S.C.R.A.P. . It’s a great place to find cheap materials that would otherwise end up in landfill. I bought some lovely shiny black perspex too, that I’m in the middle of making into new paintings.

Here’s two new finished pieces:

Robabs Patee - acrylic, glitter, plastic nail decorations, ribbon and cotton thread on canvas. 35.5 x 46cm. Helen Dryden, 2015.

Llama Tricking - acrylic, glue, pom poms and wooden lolly stick on patic board. 41 x 50cm, Helen Dryden 2015.

Here’s a work in progress picture of the four I’m working on, on the black perspex.

And if you remember me mentioning in a previous post about how I’m working with artist Fred Pepper to organise a group show in Leeds this autumn which was going to be in an empty office building.. Well, we have had to change our venue as someone is now moving into the empty office!

We are going to have our exhibition at Sela Bar instead, and I’ll be writing all about that soon. It looks like it will be a great venue. We are going to be part of the Love Arts Leeds Festival, which is running at the same time as the British Art Show in Leeds, so October will be an exciting time for us!

    Hi Helen,

really like your paintings and i would honestly like to (y) them, unfortunaly, my facebook account got

hacked or something, I'm not sure … anyway, it started sharing links of pornopages on my page and that of my friends and

fans with a speed … after about 5min, I've lost already 20 friends, so to save everyone from getting infected, i had to delete all my accounts on facebook and I'm a bit scared to start again, because I don't wanna bother everyone with pornosides i don't watch

    Regards, Cl Kaestner

Hi Ci, I didn’t get any weird messages from your Facebook, luckily! Thanks for commenting on my paintings, I’m glad you like them. I hope you get all your Facebook troubles fixed!
